Candida is a compelling play where love, passion and social conventions collide in a dramatic and witty tale. Set in the late-nineteenth century, the story revolves around Candida, a vivacious and intelligent woman torn between her seemingly perfect husband, Reverend James Morell, and a passionate young poet, Eugene Marchbanks. As Morell’s charismatic persona and Marchbanks’s earnest declarations collide, Candida finds herself at the centre of a profound emotional struggle.
