The Unaccountability Machine

Drawing inspiration from the groundbreaking ideas of Stafford Beer, an influential economist of the 1950s, Davies introduces a fresh perspective on organizations as artificial intelligences. According to Beer, these entities should be viewed as independent decision-makers, operating apart from the intentions of their individual members. This notion sheds light on how systems can falter when self-regulation is neglected.

In a compelling blend of sarcasm and journalistic rigor, Davies unpacks the missteps that have led us to the pressing political and economic crises we face today. His anecdotes and insights prompt readers to consider what might have been had the world heeded Stafford Beer's warnings in a timely manner.

This thought-provoking read is an essential addition for anyone interested in understanding the complexities of decision-making in large systems. Whether you're a student of economics, a business professional, or simply curious about the mechanics of organization and governance, The Unaccountability Machine is bound to challenge your views and inspire critical thinking.
